A note from our Director, Tom Harrison on our win at the 2025 Real Estate Institute of Tasmania Awards for Excellence.

When this journey began back in 2012, we were a small Launceston team of around a dozen people under the Harrison Humphreys banner. In 2014, I bought into the business, and by 2020 we rebranded to Harrison Agents, a new chapter built on the same foundation of hard work, creativity, and a belief in Tasmanian potential.
From the start, the goal wasn’t to be just another real estate agency. I felt there was room to approach things differently, to blend the precision of real estate with the imagination of a creative company.
Buyers today aren’t just local. They’re interstate, overseas, and online, looking not only for property but for lifestyle, opportunity, and connection. That means we’re not simply selling homes; we’re showcasing Tasmanian living to the world.
To stand out, every campaign needs the same thought and energy you’d give to launching a brand: creative, strategic, and emotionally sharp. Every image, word, and conversation should make people stop and imagine their life here. You can copy systems, but you can’t copy imagination, and that’s been our edge.
Over time, the business has grown into something I’m very proud of. We’ve built strong systems across sales and property management, recruited exceptional people, and invested heavily in training, from negotiation and communication to customer care and asset growth. The focus has always been simple: solve the client’s problem, don’t just chase the signature. Real results come from slowing down, understanding the challenge, and designing the right strategy.

We’re now embracing the world of AI with that same open mindset: fast, curious, and practical. It’s not about replacing people; it’s about enhancing them. Technology is changing the game, and we’re committed to using it to improve outcomes for our clients, investors, and team.
Harrison Agents has become a place where ambitious, high-energy people come to grow, a business that rewards performance, creativity, and hunger, and one that Tasmanians can genuinely be proud of.
We could have joined a franchise and traded independence for a playbook and a logo. I’m sure that financially it might have been the easier path, with the big networks benefiting from scale and proven systems. But I’ve always been more interested in building than in comfort. The fun is in experimenting, creating something from the ground up, taking risks and owning the responsibility that comes with it. It’s harder work but far more rewarding. The entrepreneurial spirit is what drives us, the ability to move quickly, make our own decisions and adapt without waiting for a head office to approve every idea. That’s the part I enjoy most because it keeps the business alive, creative and constantly evolving.
We’ve grown from 13 people to more than 50 across the state, serving clients in both sales and property management with the same focus on excellence and trust. This REIT award is a great milestone, but the real achievement is the culture we’ve built, one defined by learning, collaboration, and the drive to keep improving.
Here’s to what comes next.
